Heritage Rehabilitation Project

The Pollock house was built in 1891 and is one of the oldest structures in Strathcona. Throughout its colourful history, it has served as a residence, a brothel, a rooming house, and a reading room. Today, it houses seven SRO units, which will be retained, refurbished and offered to resident artists when the heritage rehabilitation is complete. In addition to breathing new life into a heritage structure, a contemporary infill building will be built along the lane's rear yard. This 2-1/2 storey structure will add a 3-bedroom home to the property and will mark the beginning of a new chapter in the history of this site.
